Job Summary:
The Group Chief Product Officer (CPO) at J-Pay Africa Group is responsible for leading the company’s product strategy, innovation, and development across all digital financial services. The CPO will drive the vision, roadmap, and execution of fintech solutions, ensuring seamless user experience (UX), market relevance, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with expertise in digital payments, banking-as-a-service (BaaS), embedded finance, and fintech product innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Strategy & Vision
- Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy aligned with J-Pay Africa’s mission and business objectives.
- Define and oversee the product roadmap for digital payments, mobile wallets, remittances, and BaaS solutions.
- Ensure J-Pay Africa’s products remain competitive, innovative, and compliant with financial regulations.
2. Product Development & Innovation
- Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle from ideation to launch.
- Work closely with engineering, design, and data science teams to build scalable fintech products.
- Ensure seamless integration of APIs, AI-driven financial solutions, and blockchain technology.
- Introduce new features, AI-driven automation, and fintech solutions that enhance customer experience.
3. User Experience (UX) & Customer-Centric Design
- Oversee user research, A/B testing, and customer feedback loops to refine products.
- Ensure intuitive, high-performing, and secure UX/UI across J-Pay Africa’s platforms.
- Optimize onboarding, KYC/KYB processes, and transaction flows for superior user experience.
4. Market Research & Competitive Positioning
- Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and fintech industry developments.
- Benchmark J-Pay Africa’s products against competitors and identify differentiation opportunities.
- Lead pricing, positioning, and go-to-market strategies for new fintech solutions.
5. Compliance, Risk, & Security
- Ensure all fintech products adhere to regulatory frameworks (AML, KYC, PCI DSS, GDPR, PSD2, and data protection laws).
- Work closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) and compliance teams to mitigate risks.
- Implement fraud detection, cybersecurity measures, and compliance automation.
6. Collaboration & Leadership
- Work with the Group Chief Technology Officer (GCTO), Group Chief Marketing Officer (GCMO), and Group Chief Operations Officer (GCOO) to align product and business strategies.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing product management and design team.
- Represent J-Pay Africa at fintech conferences, investor meetings, and regulatory engagements.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
✅ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Product Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree (MBA, Fintech, or Innovation Management) is an added advantage.
✅ 10+ years of experience in product management, fintech, banking, or digital payments.
✅ Strong understanding of BaaS, open banking, embedded finance, blockchain, and digital lending.
✅ Proven track record of launching and scaling successful fintech products.
✅ Expertise in UX/UI principles, product analytics, and customer-centric design.
✅ Experience in regulatory compliance for fintech, cybersecurity, and risk mitigation.
✅ Leadership experience in cross-functional teams and fast-paced fintech environments.
